Spirulina's market is growing each year, in spite of the many restrictions imposed on advertising and marketing of the product. The only other way to spread the information is by word of mouth, which seems to be working very well. The only restrictions they face are moral obligations to their readers. Every time such an article appears in one of the popular magazines, sales of Spirulina will soar for a few months. Some of the users will give up after a while for several reasons - the effects are not as noticeable as expected, the slight discomforts during the body cleansing stage, price, etc., but many continue to use it. Spirulina
Any cyanobacteria in the genus Spirulina. A traditional food source in parts of Africa and Mexico, spirulina is an exceptionally rich source of vitamins, minerals, and protein, and one of the few no animal sources of vitamin B12. It is now being widely studied for its possible antiviral, anticancer, antibacterial, and antiparasitic properties, and has been used for such medical conditions as allergies, ulcers, anemia, heavy-metal poisoning, and radiation poisoning. Spirulina is also the commercial name for the species Arthrospira platensis (previously known as Spirulina platensis), which is cultivated around the world as a food source. It is a very rich source of nutrition. In fact, it was a staple of Aztec cuisine. The genus is also responsible for the flamingo's pink plumage.
It is currently popular as a health food in North America and Europe, often taken as a dietary supplement in the form of powder or tablet.
Vegetarians and vegans should not rely on spirulina (among certain other foods) as a source of vitamin B12.

Spirulina is a low fat, low calorie, cholesterol-free source of protein containing all the essential amino acids. It helps combat problems like diabetes, anemia and atmospheric pollution. It also helps combat 'free radicals' which can lead to ailments like cancer, arthritis, cataracts. Moreover, the gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) present in spirulina dissolves fat deposits, helps prevent heart problems and reduces "bad cholesterol". As if this wasn't enough, the National Cancer Institute, USA, has additionally announced that sulfolipids in spirulina are remarkably active against the AIDS virus. Regular intake of spirulina increases anti-viral activity, stimulates the immune system, reduces kidney toxicity, improves wound healing and reduces radiation sickness.
